Endau Rompin 10/6/15 - 12/6/15

Took a coach then transferred to a 4WD to get to the next destination!
And yup, we reached

After some lame "ice breaker" (though lame, I must give the organizer credits since English is not their first language) we did some group discussion followed by a "hike" with the groupies! We walked on the fringe of the forest initially but decided to venture in to find bugs. We did find bugs, but we also got sort of terrorized by the leeches there: aggressive, quick, persistent, and really hardy. Though I wanna say that they suck (which they do), they really do a very good job at what they are doing.

After dinner was night walk followed by light trap. It's really interesting to see everyone having their own fear in them: Cheri with moths and butterflies (sounds familiar), Eeyi with the darkness, and Eu Gene with the leeches. In fact, most of the girls are all wrapped up, determined to keep the leeches at bay.

Light traps! Lots and lots of flying things including some that bites human! But really cool to find so many different things here

First day was kinda just that. Second day was a trek! Boat was late cos some elder passed away in the indigenous tribe so we played rule games like Umbrella Geography (lamest rule ever but kept Emily scratching her brain dry for a whole week), Fuzzy Wuzzy, and Four is the Magic Number.

Also, caught this at the dock. The mist plus the sun hiding behind the clouds makes everything here look like a water painting. Love this photo!

And the boat came and off we go!

Biggest challenge of the trek? Fighting off the leeches. Everyone was just looking down all the time and frantically looking for repellent when we find one on our body. Coupled with a few river crossings, we reached the waterfall and then a blue lagoon where we swam!

Looking all shag out
Swam in this! And things pretty much turned downhill from here

Cheri got injured and thunder storm came in. Everyone was just drenched and filled with leeches by the end of the trek... Pathetic.

Went back to our dormitory, had tea break and dinner, did some reflection, and everyone fell asleep pretty soon. It's not just all about leeches and looking pathetic, many insights were gained especially through the reflections but I shall not spam them here!
