After a treacherous journey, we reached! Walked to our accommodation with 4 Chinese ladies who haven't booked their accom but they found the shared room in our place lacking so we parted ways.
Ours was a bangalow, and apart from the random toads going "fuck ni" in the middle of the night and the mosquitoes that we legit wanna tell them "fuck ni", this is pretty much a dream come true, an ideal accommodation we have envisaged this trip to have.
And I thought I could just laze here all day, until I lazed here at night. Wow, the stars you see makes your head goes giddy...
Was pretty late when we reached (and even later trying to find the US$160 I've lost) so we headed out for dinner straight at a local eatery. Next was Sakura bar for free drinks and we got ourselves a free singlet with the purchase of two vodka each.
and this is their slogan. Pretty catchy to be honest, and it's all over their singlet, which is seen all over the region.
And then the night ended with random laughter and mass insomnia but it was a happy night, sort of. And that's also when we got creeped out by the toad, as we were saying how the nature was mocking us, we suddenly heard 3 consecutive "fuck ni" in a mocking tone coming from right under our stilted bungalow; we thought even thought the next door neighbour was trying to disturb us! Freaking destroyed by a small toad whom we'll subsequently come across pretty frequently...
Morning started at 11am cos of the mass insomnia the night before, and after brunch we headed straight to tubing!
I imagined bars along the banks but it was way a much bigger set up with bars and even games higher up the river bank.
It's much more commercialized than I've imagined and while we were the rare few Asians tubing (tons of Koreans but they kayak instead), this is also the day I saw the most bikini babe in a day ever since Europe days. Starting part was pretty fun, drinking at the bar and Brandon even played volleyball with some of the bikini babes, but then the last 3 hours of floating, paddling, and hitting rocks nearly hit rock bottom; everyone was just wanting to get out of the dreadful water.
And this was part of the paddling process. Was really quite a surreal 3-4 hours really, but the heat and the wrinkled skin made the peace less enjoyable.
Ended the journey hitting rock bottom, or rather, Brandon's Go Pro literally hit rock bottom, and it was too deep for us to find it, especially with the rapid current. This marks the second lost in 2 days, not counting the blood we lost on our feet walking on the rocky banks. We also ended up disembarking the water at the wrong place, thinking we've overshoot the end point, and ended up a little lost. But all was well, less the losses. Got back up and bought some skewer, changed out, and headed out for massage!
Girls at the massage parlor were all young and not too bad looking, and when we went in the girls asked us to take off everything less our underpants and I was legit a little scared at this point, going back to double confirm if we were to really take off all our clothes. Dubious as it may sound, no dirty tricks were up their sleeves. And so a very tensed massage session ended, and we thought we might miss the free drink hour at Sakura, so we headed there to get two drinks before dinner. 5-5-5 and then 5-10 attracted the bartender's attention and he (Jonas) joined. And then some other regulars (Deck and Adam) joined, and then some French girls (Manu and Matilda), and Jonas brought out some cards and two drinks became two hours of drinking.
And we finally succumbed to our hunger and left, settled for a roadside stall which turned out to serve amazing food and the stall owner spoke almost perfect English! (Turns out she was an ex-tour guide, not sure how good she is as a guide but her noodles and soup are absolutely delicious).
And then the night ended early cos of the lack of sleep from the previous day. Last night on the hammock~
Next morning we woke up at 730am but was welcomed by towering dark clouds. And indeed, it started to pour shortly after. After packing up the room and checking out, breakfast was spent discussing if we should leave for our next city at an earlier timing, asked for the bus and it was fully booked!
No choice we have to stay here and we decided to brave the rain for the Blue Lagoon and that was the best decision (plus a helping hand from fate), cos the rained stopped shortly after we reach the lagoon and we had the whole lagoon to ourselves! (Though some people around might have been slightly more interesting).
Crossed this shabby bridge on our tuk tuk under the dying rain. Funny incident also happened when we were fetched to the rural area of the town and the driver turned into a farm house before alighting and said "change driver" before clarifying that his father is fetching us there. This also became a running joke throughout the trip whenever we board a transportation and wonder if their dad's gonna come along halfway LOL
And tada! BLUE... er I mean BLUR lagoon! Haha. Check out my Insta for the only blue thing we found in the pool HAHAHA though I must say it's not too bad a place (just maybe not a day after soaking 6 hours in the river)
Also, got attacked by fire ants while climbing up the trunks. Also, we found out that Jingyi was kinda hydrophobia when he decided to get himself a life jacket while Phua and I did a few dive from the branches. But all is well! Got ourselves some nice mango smoothie that was recommended after cleaning up then headed back to the city center, had lunch and went back to our bungalow early.
Fulfilling despite the "crushed" ice that weren't crushed, and even as we were shivering after drinking this on the windy tuk tuk under the rain
Another play of fate has it that the van would come early and we made it just in time... And so the next city we go!
