Day 1
First thing I did: found a pretty girl. Always "dazing" at menu
Chendol to reward ourselves after a long bus ride! (Just 3 hours actually) And this cafe is hygenic one ok.
And passed by this old school barber shop, regret not going in (or maybe not) hahaha
Checked in!
This view when we open our door makes up 50% of my satisfaction got this accommodation
The other 50% is for the fact that this cafe we intended to go was just 2 shophouses away, and surprise surprise, they have the same owner! So on top of convenience, discount (which we forgot to ask for lol)
Spent the whole day pretty much studying at this place (shifted a table when flakes of wood starts falling off the ceiling, can't expect much from an old house and if there's a reason to not give this place a 5/5, this is it)
Also, while I have had a pretty decent share of scrambled eggs, home cooked or otherwise, from around the world, this is THE BEST one I've ever had. Not even exaggerating, and I wasn't even hungry! It's rich and creamy yet nicely balanced, not too much milk and not too blend at all! Amazing find.
And yet, nice courtyard as well, with the red bricks especially appealing to the eyes
And then we went back to our room to continue working (hide) cos it was too damn hot in the cafe (au natural, no air con)
And then took breathers when we can't go on anymore (or when the stomach growls)
And this dubious looking pot of randomness is our absolutely delicious dinner: Capitol Satay Celup. Walked in before the queue started and they give us a seat with the gas tank between my tighs (as with every other table), gave a pot of laksa looking soup then added in some peanut, Chili paste, sugar, and other secret ingredients and we're off to pick our own mains. Many dubious finds turned out more than fine.
The aftermath, and look at that pure blissful look of contentment (though the heat was rather punishing)
And the queue stretches about 30m when we left after dusk
And then we chilled off the night by the river (spot the lonely fighting fish)
Day 2
This, early in the morning.
And it's so good! Especially the rice, Super fragrant
Went back to Kaya Kaya for their specialty pancake, which was, honestly, not fantastic haha
This is so so much better! And if there's one dessert to eat here in Malacca, this is it: The Daily Fix's Pandan Pancake with Gula Melaka
Very nice setting too! And a very positive Chinese translation
Second floor has a very knowing feel too
Backlane coffee was next, less kampong, more spacious, no less hippy
Dessert and tea was nice too, former was abit too sweet though
Went back to rest and then it's back to food. Jonker 88 this time round for laksa: Penang and Nonya laksa, still prefer the one more common in Singapore! And also chendol, which is not featured here
And then it's time to walk off the heavy stomach
Super crowded at night! And we also went for a massage, even did 刮痧. Pain pain
And then, back to food! (After buying souvenir food and resting for awhile in the hotel)
Putu Piring! Tutu Kuey's Malay Cousin. Richer and bigger, less firm but more tasty (and sweet)!
Coconut ice cream shake! Too much sweetness in one night though. And with that much sweetness, we rest for the night...
Day 3
Second Portuguese colony in half a year and the Portuguese tarts are still meh. Filling stomach before the chicken rice stall we wanna visit opens
The famous Christ Church! And a random gardener haha
And then up the hill to this ruined church. After awhile, I realise Portuguese colonies are commonly iconized by ruined church walls
One round later, back to chicken rice! Meat is nicer from here, but rice is way too plain... Still, satisfying
Abit more chilling at the lavender cafe opposite our guesthouse which was superrrrrr underwhelming haha
Checked out but still too early so got some drinks at the famous Bikini Toppings!
And left our marks there haha
And then more chilling with this splendid view
And last cafe food (nice!) before we bid this nice little quiet town our final goodbye.
Oh and all day breakfast, which was good too
And yep, time to go~
Bye bye, Melaka!
